KET 136 KET 136 Overtaking and Lane Travel

Drivers are recommended to avoid unnecessary overtaking maneuvers. Before starting to overtake, the driver must take additional precautions and make sure that:
136.1. none of the drivers traveling behind has started to overtake them;
136.2. the driver of the vehicle that is to be overtaken is not showing a left turn signal;
136.3. the part of the lane needed for overtaking is clear and will not obstruct oncoming vehicles or pedestrians moving on the carriageway;
136.4. when overtaking, a safe distance from the vehicle being overtaken will be maintained;
136.5. after finishing overtaking, they will be able to return to their lane without obstructing the overtaken vehicle.

KET 137 KET 137 Overtaking and Lane Travel

If the driver in front is showing a left turn signal and has moved into position to turn left (or turn around), the driver following them must go around the turning vehicle on the right or wait until the driver in front clears the lane.

KET 138 KET 138 Overtaking and Lane Travel

The driver of the vehicle being overtaken is prohibited from obstructing the overtaking by increasing speed or by other actions.

KET 139 KET 139 Overtaking and Lane Travel

If it is difficult to pass an oncoming vehicle, the driver on whose side the obstacle is located must give way. On downhill sections marked with the appropriate road signs, where there is an obstacle, the driver of the vehicle traveling downhill must give way.

KET 140 KET 140 Overtaking and Lane Travel

Overtaking is prohibited:
140.1. at intersections, except for permitted overtaking on the main road that is not marked with the road signs "Junction with a minor road", "Minor road from the right", "Minor road from the left" or "Main road";
140.2. at railway crossings and at a distance of up to 100 m before them;
140.3. on road sections with poor visibility;
140.4. at pedestrian crossings;
140.5. in places where there is more than one lane in the direction of travel;
140.6. on road sections marked with the road signs "No overtaking" or "No overtaking by heavy goods vehicles" (according to the explanations of these road signs);
140.7. on road sections where opposing traffic flows are separated by horizontal markings 1.1, 1.3, 1.4, 1.10 (on the side of the solid line) and 1.15, as set out in Annex 3 of the Rules;
140.8. in residential zones, the courtyards of multi-apartment residential buildings, parking lots, and bicycle streets.
