📚 Detailed rules
When traveling in a vehicle equipped with seat belts, the driver and passengers must fasten them. If a bus is equipped with seat belts, in front of each seat, on the seat, or next to it in a visible place, the informational sign "Fasten your seat belt" must be displayed. It is recommended that, before starting to drive, bus passengers be informed about the requirement to use seat belts verbally or by audio and video means.
The seat belt must be fastened by passing it over the shoulder and across the waist, or as provided by the vehicle manufacturer.
In built-up areas, the driver is permitted not to fasten the seat belt when driving in reverse or in parking lots.
Children under 135 cm in height carried in a passenger or heavy goods vehicle must be secured with child restraint systems adapted to their height and weight according to the size range and maximum child weight specified by the manufacturer, or to the following groups:
199.1. group 0 is intended for children weighing less than 10 kg;
199.2. group 0+ is intended for children weighing less than 13 kg;
199.3. group I is intended for children weighing from 9 to 18 kg;
199.4. group II is intended for children weighing from 15 to 25 kg;
199.5. group III is intended for children weighing from 22 to 36 kg.
Drivers must use child restraint systems meeting safety standards, certified by child restraint system manufacturers, and approved in accordance with the requirements of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Regulations No. 44/03 or No. 129, or their later versions.
It is prohibited to carry a child on the front seat of a motor vehicle in a special seat adapted to the child's height and weight that is facing the direction opposite to the normal direction of travel of the motor vehicle, if the front seat is protected by a safety airbag. This provision does not apply if the activation mechanism of the front safety airbag is switched off. It is recommended that a child be carried in a special seat adapted to the child's height and weight that is facing the direction opposite to the normal direction of travel of the motor vehicle for as long as possible (as specified by the seat manufacturer).
Bus passengers over 3 years of age must use the installed restraint systems.
The driver must ensure that children carried in a motor vehicle use the installed and properly adapted restraint systems.
When traveling on a moped, motorcycle, tricycle, or any type of quadricycle, the driver and passengers must use motorcyclists' protective equipment (motorcyclists' helmets, eye protection devices). It is permitted to travel without motorcyclists' protective equipment if the moped, motorcycle, tricycle, or any type of quadricycle has a body (cabin) or built-in roll bars whose purpose is to protect the driver and passenger from impacts, and seat belts are installed.
A person to whom the competent authorities have issued a special certificate due to serious medical reasons is permitted not to fasten the seat belt. The validity period must be indicated on this certificate.
The driver must take care of the safety of pets in a parked vehicle and ensure that pets are transported in such a way as not to interfere with driving, not to injure themselves, or to injure the road users in the vehicle if the vehicle is braked sharply.
