KET 141 KET 141 Stopping and Parking

Vehicles are permitted to stop and park on the right side of the road, as far to the right as possible on the shoulder; where there is none – at the edge of the carriageway. The driver, when entering (leaving) the shoulder, must not endanger other road users. If a bicycle lane is installed on the right side of the carriageway, stopping and parking is permitted alongside the bicycle lane.

In built-up areas, stopping and parking is also permitted on the left side on one-way roads, as well as on roads with one lane in each direction.

On unlit road sections during the dark hours of the day or in poor visibility, stopping is permitted with the hazard warning signals switched on; parking is permitted only in parking lots or off the road.

Vehicles are permitted to stop and park on the carriageway in a single row.

KET 145 KET 145 Stopping and Parking

Motorcycles without trailers, mopeds, bicycles and electric micro-mobility vehicles are permitted to be parked in two rows, provided that this does not obstruct traffic.

KET 146 KET 146 Stopping and Parking

Parking a vehicle at an angle to the edge of the carriageway, rather than parallel to it, is only permitted where this is permitted by road signs indicating the parking method and (or) horizontal road markings.

KET 147 KET 147 Stopping and Parking

The driver may leave their seat or the vehicle only after ensuring that it will not start rolling on its own and will not be used by other persons.

KET 148 KET 148 Stopping and Parking

It is prohibited to open the doors of a stopped vehicle if doing so endangers or obstructs other road users.

KET 149 KET 149 Stopping and Parking

When leaving a motor vehicle parked in the area of validity of a sign limiting parking duration, the driver must leave information about the motor vehicle's arrival time behind the windshield of the motor vehicle in such a way that it is visible to other persons.

KET 150 KET 150 Stopping and Parking

Stopping and parking are prohibited:
150.1. at railway crossings and at a distance of less than 50 m from them;
150.2. on the central reservation, acceleration lane and deceleration lane;
150.3. on bridges, viaducts, overpasses and under them, except where parking is permitted by road signs indicating a parking place, and also in tunnels;
150.4. at pedestrian crossings and at a distance of less than 5 m before them, and on roads with one lane in each direction also at a distance of less than 5 m after pedestrian crossings;
150.5. on grass, sidewalks (except where parking is permitted by road signs indicating the parking method, or the vehicle is specified in a permit issued for trading in a public place during events), as well as on sports grounds, children's playgrounds and other territories not intended for the traffic (parking) of vehicles (the paragraph does not apply to bicycle riders);
150.6. on a pedestrian or (and) bicycle path, bicycle lane, as well as at a distance of less than 5 m before the intersection of the carriageway with a pedestrian or (and) bicycle path, and on roads with one lane in each direction also at a distance of less than 5 m after a pedestrian or (and) bicycle path;
150.7. where the distance between the stopped vehicle and the solid horizontal marking line, curb, or where there is none – the edge of the carriageway, is less than 3 m;
150.8. at an intersection and at a distance of less than 5 m from it, except where parking is permitted by road signs indicating a parking place;
150.9. at public transport stop areas and at a distance of less than 15 m from them (where there is no stop area – at a distance of less than 15 m from the road sign "Stop"), if this would obstruct public transport traffic; it is prohibited for other vehicles to park in places designated for passenger taxis;
150.10. where a stopped vehicle would block the traffic light signals or road signs from other drivers, obstruct entry (exit) to (from) a parking lot, a parking place, a garage, a yard, or a territory, obstruct boarding into another vehicle, or otherwise obstruct vehicle or pedestrian traffic;
150.11. outside built-up areas where the road is visible in at least one direction at a distance of less than 100 m; on uphill, downhill or bend sections marked with the appropriate road signs Nos. 113–118;
150.12. in built-up areas where the road is visible in at least one direction at a distance of less than 50 m; on uphill, downhill or bend sections marked with the appropriate road signs Nos. 113–118;
150.13. on hatched areas marking islands of refuge;
150.14. for other vehicles in lanes designated for public transport;
150.15. at the intersection of the carriageways of the road and an entrance (exit) to (from) a territory located next to the road, and at a distance of less than 5 m from it (on the side of the road on which the entrance (exit) to (from) the territory located next to the road is indicated), except where parking is permitted by road signs indicating a parking place;
150.16. for other vehicles in a parking place designated for vehicles bearing the distinguishing mark "Person with disability" or holding a disabled person's car parking card.
The provisions of paragraph 150.5 of the Rules do not apply to riders of bicycles and electric micro-mobility vehicles;
150.17. on the side of the road with two or more lanes and a permitted driving speed exceeding 50 km/h, except in places specifically designated for parking and marked with the appropriate road signs and (or) horizontal markings, or for stopping at public transport stops or on the shoulder.

KET 151 KET 151 Stopping and Parking

A driver of a vehicle forced to stop in a place where stopping or parking is prohibited must switch on the hazard warning signals, if installed, and (or) set up an emergency stop sign as specified in paragraph 92 of the Rules, and remove the vehicle from the road as soon as possible. If it is intended to stop on an unlit road section during the dark hours of the day or in poor visibility and the hazard warning signals are absent or out of order, the vehicle must be parked off the road. If this cannot be done, the location must be marked as specified in paragraph 92 of the Rules.

  • If the hazard warning signals are absent or out of order, or if forced to stop in a place where the stopped vehicle would be seen by other road users at a distance of less than 100 m, the driver of a motor vehicle (except a moped or motorcycle without a trailer), tractor or self-propelled machine must immediately set up an emergency stop sign on that side of the carriageway, against the direction of vehicle traffic: in built-up areas – at a distance of no less than 25 m, and outside built-up areas – at a distance of no less than 50 m from the stopped vehicle.
KET 152 KET 152 Stopping and Parking

Next to vehicles bearing the distinguishing mark "Person with disability", the driver must park their vehicle in such a way as not to obstruct boarding (alighting) by the person with a disability.

KET 153 KET 153 Stopping and Parking

Where possible due to the vehicle's dimensions, the vehicle must be parked within the boundaries of the parking place marked with a narrow solid horizontal marking line.

The driver of an electric vehicle or pure electric vehicle (hereinafter – electric vehicle) whose charging has been completed must immediately move the vehicle from the electric vehicle charging place, unless the road sign "Parking place with limited time" indicates otherwise.
