The Lithuanian Government approved a package of Road Traffic Rule (KET) amendments in 2025. All changes took effect on 1 January 2026. Here is what changed.
🔋 Electric micromobility (e-scooters, e-bikes)
- You may ride only a device with a working brake, bell/horn, white front light, red rear light and orange side reflectors.
- On the carriageway you must wear a high-visibility vest or have the front white and rear red lights on; in the dark or poor visibility, both lights and the vest are mandatory.
- A helmet is mandatory for everyone — cyclist, skater or motorcycle type, worn and fastened. For rental devices the rental company must provide the helmet.
🚂 Railway crossings
Stricter conduct rules at level crossings: stopping distances and prohibited manoeuvres are defined more precisely, and it is explicitly forbidden to enter a crossing if you might be forced to stop on it.
🪧 New and amended road signs
The amendment package introduces several new signs and clarifies existing ones, including signage for low-emission zones and micromobility infrastructure.
🚛 Marking of plates and loads
Updated requirements for licence-plate visibility and for marking loads that protrude beyond the vehicle, plus new marking rules for road-works vehicles.
For exam preparation this matters directly: Regitra questions are updated to the new rules, so practising on pre-2026 question banks can cost you points. RoboKET question banks are updated to the 2026 edition.
