Regitra theory exam: structure, topics and requirements

The state theory exam at Regitra consists of 30 general questions; some category groups get extra specific questions: +5 for the A group (motorcycles) and +10 for the C and D groups. The exam is passed with at least 80% correct answers, and the time limit equals the number of questions in minutes (30 questions → 30 minutes).
What the exam actually tests
- Recalling and recognising KET requirements and concepts, including when they are paraphrased.
- Applying the Road Traffic Rules in concrete traffic situations.
- Understanding the road situation — recognising factors that affect traffic safety.
- Awareness of other road users' interests and the consequences of behaviour on the road.
Main topic groups
Questions are drawn proportionally from official topic groups: risks related to driving, road signs and markings, right of way rules, speed and distance, overtaking, stopping and parking, behaviour in special situations (railway crossings, motorways, residential zones), vehicle safety requirements, and eco-driving. Situational questions with pictures make up a significant share of the test.
Practical details for 2026
- The exam is computer-based; you can skip questions and return to them before submitting.
- Since 2026-01-01 the theory exam can be taken in Lithuanian, English, Polish, Spanish, French, German or Ukrainian; the practical exam is Lithuanian only (interpreters allowed, including into Ukrainian).
- Exam fee: €10, paid online when registering at vp.regitra.lt. A passed theory result is valid until the practical exam, but no longer than 1 year.
