Technical inspection intervals
Mandatory inspection — how often, by vehicle class
The inspection interval depends on the vehicle's class or purpose (rule 30):
- Motorcycles and mopeds (L1–L7e classes) — first inspection 3 years after first registration, then every 24 months;
- Heavy quadricycles — after 2 years, then every 24 months;
- Passenger cars (M1) — after 3 years, then every 24 months;
- Ambulances (special-purpose code SC) — after 1 year, then every 12 months;
- Driving-school vehicles (M1): up to 10 years old — after 1 year, then every 12 months; 10+ years old — every 6 months;
- Taxis and ride-for-hire cars (M1): up to 5 years old — after 1 year, then every 12 months; 5+ years old — every 6 months;
- Trolleybuses and buses (M2, M3) — after 1 year, then every 6 months;
- N1 trucks — after 2 years, then every 12 months;
- N2 and N3 trucks — after 1 year, then every 12 months;
- Dangerous-goods vehicles (EX/II, EX/III, FL, AT, MEMU) — every 12 months;
- O1 and O2 trailers/semi-trailers — after 3 years, then every 24 months;
- O3 and O4 trailers/semi-trailers — after 1 year, then every 12 months;
- Special-purpose vehicles (code SA) — after 2 years, then every 24 months;
- Historic vehicles — every 60 months.

2026 update
The inspection intervals above remain unchanged, but from July 2026 the Lithuanian Transport Safety Administration (LTSA) raised inspection prices by roughly 10%. Exact prices depend on the inspection company and vehicle type.
